The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope’s Wide Field Instrument uses a grism and a prism to split light for analyzing celestial objects. Scientists chose our SuperK supercontinuum lasers and filters for calibration due to their broad wavelength range and high brightness.

The SuperK FIANIUM FIR-20 laser, combined with the SELECT monochromator, provided high brightness diffraction-limited light for testing. The setup allowed for effective calibration and characterization of the grism and prism, ensuring accurate measurements for the telescope’s mission to study dark matter, dark energy, galaxy evolution, and exoplanets.
